The Advantage The Steadicam Flyer F24LE Stabilizer
The Advantage of the Steadicam Flyer F24LE Stabilizer flying through the Sifton Bog Environmentally Significant Area is a dream project. Located in London Ontario Canada on the south side of Oxford Street, west of Hyde Park Road. Parking is available at the main entrance on Oxford Street. With its long winding board walk a video camera stabilizer would make an excellent video of the bog. The main feature of this public site is the floating acid peat bog and associated boreal plant life witch is way a person should stay on the boardwalk. You just might catch a dear, coyote or a fox walking through the bog. On the fly through the bog, the weight adjustments frees the operator from dismounting the system to make changes. The open design of the arm has freedom of movement unknown in this weight class. The new adjustable arm post assembly is a feature usually found on more expensive systems. The arm will come apart with a pin removal for quick and neat storage. The patented Iso-Elastic™ Stabilizer Arm supports 19 pounds of camera weight. A custom travel bag is included would be a great asset when following the boardwalk through the bog when you are finished using the video camera stabilizer.
Steadicam Steadistand
Steadicam Steadistand
The Steadicam SteadiStand is recommended by Steadicam to balance your Steadicam Merlin or Steadicam Pilot camera stabilizers. The SteadiStand is easy to transport as it comes apart into three sections and is flat which reduces space requirements. Included with the Steadistand is a sturdy padded carry bag. The SteadiStand has a rubber handle grip on the post for ease of movement while in use. The stand robust design is much heavier than similar stands and is designed to support heavier loads than the previous stand which was required for the Flyer-LE. You will find the stand less expensive than other similar stands with more features. It can be used for balancing other camera stabilizers as well as your Steadicam camera stabilizers. This stand is standard with the FLYER-LE systems and are in stock for immediate delivery. Tiffen Steadicam products are pleased to bring you this new robust stand with additional features while maintaining the same price for your camera stabilizer.
Camera Stabilizer Steadicam Merlin
The video camera stabilizer in the hands of a professional can make magic You can be that professional with a little bit of practice.
Steadicam offers the Steadicam Merlin video camera stabilizer. A great compact camera stabilizer that folds neatly into a custom carrying case that is no larger than a camera bag. The Merlin is made of 7 main parts, making this camera stabilizer simple and elegant. When using the Merlin unfolding the camera stabilizer is easy, you just have to make sure the “hinge release” is locked so that it doesn’t fold up again. By securing your video cameras to the newly designed dovetail mounting plate the camera stabilizer can be adjusted by using the fine adjustment trim controls. Simply rotate these very smooth thumb rollers to adjust the fore-aft, and side-to-side balance. A nice touch that adds functionality is the engraved arrows next to each control. Trim “up” to point the camera up, arrow down to point at the ground.
Finding proper balance includes adding the correct amount of weight to the lower Spar. Each machined weight connects to end of the Spar, and can be piggybacked (five total) to create a long extension of stainless steel counterbalance. The Merlin has been brilliantly designed with rubber O-rings between each weight, keeping them from binding when threaded together. Nice. For lightweight video cameras we found that only a small amount of counterweight was needed. If you’ve ever thought about shooting with a handheld video camera stabilizer, Tiffen’s Steadicam Merlin is great way to get the moving shots you need.
Camera Stabilizer Body Positions
The body position is important for a video camera stabilizer. The forward operating position (missionary position) by positioning the video camera perpendicular to your body so you can follow somebody, go around some trees and follow your subject. But what happens if you want to be in front of your actor by walking backwards you could trip and fall. The best solution is the reverse mode (don wan) position to twist your body to the side then you see the ground and now you are safe. The reverse mode is essential on steps you can see the steps and can follow the actor up the stairs. The video camera position stays level with the actor as you move up the stairs. When using the Glidecam in windy conditions try to find a natural wind break or what is suggested is a 4×4 double net that will not allow wind swirls around the wind break protecting the video camera stabilizer.

The Steadicam® Pilot as with most video camera stabilizers as a stiff learning curve to balance and operate the Steadicam properly. The Steadicam Pilot is designed especially for lightweight cameras from 2 to 10 pounds. If your video camera stabilizer is too light it may be harder to balance as it seems heavier cameras makes this task easier.
